24-Year-Old Marries Man Older than Her 72-Year-Old Grandpa, Wants to Make Him Dad for the 1st Time
A 24-year-old woman hopes to have at least two children with her 85-year-old husband. She’s determined to make him a father despite knowing she will likely outlast him and raise their children alone.
People in relationships with huge age gaps are often frowned upon by the general public. There’s a preconceived notion that younger people who get into relationships with someone a lot older have an ulterior motive, like inheriting that person’s assets
Miracle Pogue of Starkville, Mississippi, doesn’t care what other people think of her relationship with her husband Charles, who is 61 years her senior and a decade older than her own grandfather.
Miracle met Charles in 2019 while working in a laundromat. Their frequent encounters there led to a friendship before it blossomed into something more.
It took Miracle a couple of months before realizing she was falling deep for Charles. She felt comfortable around him, admitting he didn’t make her “feel weird.” She added:
“I don’t care if he’s 100 or 55, I like him for him. I thought he was maybe 60 or 70 because he looks so good. He’s always up and active.”
A year after their first meeting, Charles couldn’t help but express his love for Miracle. He proposed to her in February 2020, and they got married in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their family and friends.
It took a while for Miracle’s dad, Kareem, to support his daughter’s decision to marry someone older than her grandfather. Although her mom, Tamika Phillips, and her grandfather, Joe Brown, were supportive, seeing how happy Charles made Miracle, this did not convince Kareem to give his blessing.
But Miracle was determined to get her father’s nod, so she gave him an ultimatum: support her marriage and walk her down the aisle or be cut off from her life. Kareem conceded.
Kareem eventually walked Miracle down the aisle, and their family celebrated the union. Now, Miracle and Charles are looking forward to starting a family together, with Miracle hoping to give Charles his first child.
Charles is aware that he may not even be around in five years, and Miracle has been preparing herself for this reality.
Miracle and Charles have decided to turn to IVF to broaden their chances of having children. Admittedly, Miracle felt “judged” when they were at the clinic, but she’s choosing to let it go if it means getting the proper help they needed.
The couple chooses to take things one day at a time. They acknowledge Charles’ advanced age, and how he may not live as long as they’d like.
Charles is aware he may not even be around in five years, and Miracle has been preparing herself for this reality. However, for now, as long as they still can, they will continue to try and start a family even if it means Miracle raising the child alone in the future.
After stories of their relationship went viral on the internet, they were not spared from harsh comments. However, they choose not to dwell on these, knowing it wouldn’t make a difference in their lives. “We just let them do their thing. We’re very happy together. We’re looking forward to starting a family together,” Miracle said.
Ultimately, Miracle slammed haters who claimed she was using Charles for money. She defended herself saying she would be well-off with or without Charles. Miracle is a nurse and she was enrolled in medical school when she met her husband.
When haters slammed her for her appearance, claiming she didn’t look 24 like she claimed, the nurse hit back and revealed she was born in 1998. She admitted she only looked older because of the way she dressed. Other comments read:
