What would you do if you found a wallet stuffed with a lot of cash on the ground and no one was around?

Most people would probably be tempted to keep it but three kids from Aurora, Colorado did the most surprising thing.

Siblings Haylie Wenke, 13, and Reagen Wenke, 6, were enjoying a bike ride one afternoon on a hot summer day. They were there with a friend, Ashley Dayton.

After playing in the community park, the three decided it was time to go home.

As they rode back, one of the kids saw something on the ground next to a car parked outside a house.

Ashley realized that it was a black wallet and the owner of the car might have dropped it without realizing that his or her wallet is missing.

So, the kids decided to do the next best thing.

They needed to go to the house to return the wallet, which actually contained $700.

Inside the house, Jamie Carlton already saw the kids biking towards his home’s pathway through the surveillance camera.

He thought they were going to be up to no good but he got the surprise of his life when they rang the doorbell.

A voice activated security system greeted the kids.

It said that no one can come to the door but since the camera is recording everything, they can just leave whatever it is that they needed to drop off.

The kids then told the voice system that they found a wallet outside, next to the parked car.

They were going to put it on the doorstep so that “no one takes any money.”

The children then hopped back on their bikes and rode away before Carlton could catch up to them.

Carlton was quite impressed by the children’s honesty and kindness.

He wanted to thank them for what they did but he had no idea where they actually lived or who they were.

So, Carlton posted the surveillance video on Facebook hoping that someone would be able to help identify these young do-gooders.

He really wanted to personally thank them for returning his son’s wallet.

The video went viral and reached the children’s family.

Kerri Eddy Wenke, Haylie and Reagan’s mother, was humbled by the amount of attention the children have received from the community.

She said that, as much as she would like to take credit for what her kids did, it’s an action that they themselves decided to do.

Kerri said that any parent would always hope for their kids to do the right thing, especially when no one is watching.

She, along with the kids’ dad, Ryan Wenke, are indeed very proud of Haylie and Reagan.

Netizens who have seen the video congratulated the parents for teaching their kids to be honest and kind.

Many have been uplifted by their gesture as the kids restored people’s faith that there are still good people in the world.
