Mary was an eight-year-old African-American girl who happily came to school every day, full of enthusiasm and hope for new discoveries. She was the only black child in her class, but this never stopped her from connecting with her classmates and teachers, who appreciated her kindness and sincerity.

Mary was kind, smart, and always ready to help others, whether it was help with homework or just support in difficult times. Her smile could melt any heart, and she quickly won the sympathy of those around her, bringing an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding to the class.

Every day, she tried to do something good for her peers, and her good deeds did not go unnoticed. Mary knew that even small actions could make a big difference, and so she tried to be a light to others, inspiring them to kindness and friendship.

However, everything changed when a new French teacher named Henry came to school. From the very first days of his behavior, Mary felt that something was wrong. Henry was strict and demanding, but his negative attitude towards Mary was especially noticeable. He often put her in a corner, scolded her in front of the class, and even called her an “ugly duckling” because of her skin color.

Mary couldn’t understand why he did this, and it hurt her heart. At first, Mary endured the humiliation, hoping that everything would change, but every day the situation became worse. She tried to be strong, but deep down she felt lonely and hurt. She couldn’t believe that the adult who was supposed to teach and support her was actually hurting her.

One day, when she was again called to the board, Henry began to humiliate her as never before. He yelled at her, accusing her of not knowing how to pronounce words correctly, and once again called her an “ugly duckling.” At that moment, Mary felt anger boiling inside her. She couldn’t stand it anymore. In a fit of emotion, she hit Henry in the groin and then, without waiting for a reaction, ran out of the classroom, tears rolling down her cheeks.

The teacher, who did not expect such an answer, was shocked, but soon complained to the director about Mary, accusing her of aggression. However, classmates who witnessed the humiliation could not remain aloof. They stood up for Mary and told the director about how Henry bullied her and constantly yelled at her for nothing.

After a thorough investigation, the director decided to dismiss Henry with disgrace. Mary was freed from fear and humiliation, and her classmates supported her, showing that friendship and unity can overcome injustice.

With the return to normal life at school, Mary continued her studies. She realized that her skin color did not determine her worth and that true strength lies in kindness, courage, and the support of friends. Mary became a symbol of resilience and hope, inspiring other children to be brave and stand up for their rights.
