Mary Trump, a psychologist and outspoken critic of her uncle, President-elect Donald Trump, took to social media on New Year’s Day to offer advice to those opposed to his return to power. Speaking openly on X (formerly Twitter), she urged people to take a calmer and less emotional approach to the political turmoil surrounding her uncle.

In her post, Mary admitted that the chaos of the past year had left her feeling emotionally drained. She shared that she had been “too engaged” and overly focused on every political development, which took a toll on her mental health.

Her advice to others feeling the same way was simple: don’t let politics consume your life. “Don’t make all of this your life,” she wrote, encouraging critics to stay informed without letting every new headline feel like a personal blow.

Mary reflected on how Donald Trump’s actions have repeatedly caused intense reactions over the years. She noted that critics often overreact to his behavior, with many believing that each controversy would be the moment his influence ended. “People would say, ‘This is it; he’s gone too far this time,’ but it never was,” she explained. Mary encouraged people to take a step back and avoid treating every event like a catastrophe, as this only adds to the emotional exhaustion.

She also criticized Donald Trump’s actions after leaving the White House, accusing him of doing very little besides running for office again and profiting from his properties. Mary predicted that if he wins a second term, he would spend much of his time at Mar-a-Lago, benefiting financially by charging government officials and staff to stay at his resort. “It’s all about raiding the treasury for him,” she said.

Mary didn’t hold back when discussing Trump’s relationships and policies. She took aim at his connection with Elon Musk, calling Musk “the last person who has Donald’s ear.” She suggested Musk’s influence over Trump was part of a strategy to maintain power and relevance. Mary also criticized Trump’s immigration policies and his choice of Tom Homan as a “border czar,” describing him as a “vicious thug” whose policies would harm vulnerable people.

She mocked some of Trump’s old ideas, such as buying Greenland or reclaiming the Panama Canal, calling them absurd attempts to win over his supporters. Mary speculated that these ideas might also be meant to prepare his followers for policies that could benefit Russia in the long run.

In a particularly sharp comment, Mary expressed hope that Donald Trump would not be invited to President Jimmy Carter’s funeral. “He’s a disgrace, and he shouldn’t be there,” she said, suggesting that his presence would be an insult to Carter’s memory.

Mary’s overall message to critics was to stay focused and not let Trump’s return dominate their lives. While she acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, she emphasized the importance of staying calm and avoiding emotional burnout. Her advice was clear: follow the news, stay informed, but don’t let the chaos take over your life.
