President-elect Donald Trump gave a vivid description of the devastation caused by the wildfires in Los Angeles during a phone interview with Newsmax. He shared his thoughts on the destruction and the expected aftermath.
So far, at least 24 people have lost their lives, and thousands of buildings have been damaged or destroyed by the fires. While the cause is still unknown, some conservatives have blamed Democratic leaders, including Governor Gavin Newsom, who is seen as a potential presidential candidate for 2028.
Trump said the damage is worse than what is shown on TV and compared it to the aftermath of a nuclear explosion. “It’s far worse than you see on television, if you can believe that. I’ve never seen anything like it—miles and miles of houses burned to the ground,” he said.
He predicted that more victims will be discovered, saying, “They’re going to find many bodies. Only dogs, like German Shepherds, will be able to locate them in the ashes. It’s amazing what they can do, but we’re going to find many more dead.”
Trump also suggested that the fires were made worse by environmental policies aimed at protecting certain species in Northern California, although this claim has been widely disputed.
