A 17-year-old student, Solomon Henderson, caused tragedy at Antioch High School in Nashville. He brought a pistol to school, shot and killed a 16-year-old girl, Josselin Corea Escalante, and injured another student before turning the gun on himself.

Police found a 300-page manifesto written by Henderson, which was filled with hate speech, far-right views, and references to previous shooters. He expressed admiration for Thomas Crooks, who had attempted to harm Donald Trump in 2024, and claimed he was inspired by other attackers. In his writings, Henderson described himself as “worthless” and “miserable.”

The shooting occurred in the school cafeteria just after 11 a.m. Police responded within two minutes, and SWAT teams cleared the building. Students and families were terrified, and many described the chaos as they tried to escape. Some students feared for their lives as the gunman moved through the cafeteria.

The shooting was partially live-streamed on the platform “Kick.” The video was quickly removed, and the account was banned. The company is cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation.

Parents and community members have expressed grief and anger over the incident. Adrienne Battle, the Metro Nashville Public Schools Director, called the day “heartbreaking.” Vigils were held for the victims, and many are calling for stronger measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Students and families are now left to heal from this traumatic event, as authorities continue to investigate what led to the attack.
