Stephen Colbert Destroys Donald Trump’s ‘Common Sense’ Excuse for Plane Crash with One Savage Response”
Stephen Colbert, the host of The Late Show, strongly criticized former President Donald Trump for his comments about the deadly airplane crash in Washington, D.C. The crash, which killed 67 people, has left many families grieving and searching for answers. Instead of offering sympathy or waiting for the investigation to conclude, Trump blamed diversity hiring practices at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the tragedy.
During his show, Colbert played a clip from a press briefing where Trump was asked how he could conclude that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives were responsible for the crash. Trump responded by saying, “Because I have common sense, OK.”
Colbert disagreed strongly with Trump’s statement, saying, “No, not OK.” He added that Trump showed “no common sense and no common decency” by using the tragedy to push a political agenda without any evidence.
Colbert also mocked Trump’s tendency to blame DEI for almost every problem in the country. He joked that Trump would likely blame DEI for wildfires, crime, and even the rising cost of groceries. For example, Colbert said, “The horrific fire sweeping through Los Angeles? DEI in the fire department. Violence in America? DEI in the police departments. Grocery prices? DEI chickens.”
Colbert emphasized that while 67 families were dealing with unimaginable grief, Trump chose to make unfounded claims instead of showing compassion or waiting for the facts. He called out Trump for lacking empathy and for using the tragedy to attack his political opponents.
Colbert’s criticism highlighted how Trump often shifts blame onto DEI initiatives, even when there is no evidence to support his claims. This approach, Colbert suggested, shows a lack of respect for the victims and their families, as well as a disregard for the truth.
