President Donald Trump criticized pop star Taylor Swift on his social media platform, Truth Social, after they both attended the Super Bowl on Sunday night. Trump made fun of Swift, saying she had a rough night because the crowd booed her at the stadium.
He wrote, “The only one who had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium.” He was referring to the Kansas City Chiefs losing badly to the Philadelphia Eagles, with a final score of 40-22.
Trump also added, “MAGA is very unforgiving!” (MAGA stands for “Make America Great Again,” Trump’s campaign slogan.) Along with his post, he shared two videos: one showing him receiving cheers from the crowd at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, and another showing the crowd booing Taylor Swift. Swift was at the game to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Trump has been interested in Taylor Swift for a long time. In past interviews, he has talked about how “beautiful” she is and wondered if her liberal political views are genuine or just an act.
He has also reportedly told people close to him that he is more popular than Swift. He even warned that she would be “disloyal” if she supported Joe Biden in the 2020 election. When Swift endorsed Kamala Harris during last year’s election, Trump reportedly said, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”
Taylor Swift has mostly stayed out of politics for most of her career. She didn’t support any candidate in the 2016 election when Trump ran against Hillary Clinton. However, during Trump’s first term as president, she became more open about her progressive political views. In 2020, she publicly supported Joe Biden for president.
