Kamala Harris and Michelle Obama are facing criticism for allegedly misleading American voters. Both Democratic figures had strongly warned that Donald Trump’s actions on abortion would also impact access to IVF treatments across the country.
Now, a news show host is calling them out after President Trump signed a law aimed at expanding IVF access. Previously, Kamala Harris had mocked Trump for calling himself the “father of IVF,” saying she found the statement “quite bizarre.”
Harris also criticized Trump, stating, “He should take responsibility for the fact that 1 in 3 women in America lives in a Trump’s abortion ban state.” She argued that his policies have negatively affected couples trying to start a family and claimed that his administration had put IVF treatments “at risk.” Harris further accused Trump of causing “harm” to American women and families.
Michelle Obama, who actively campaigned for Harris, urged voters to “get the election right,” warning that women—including wives, daughters, and mothers—would suffer as a result of Trump’s policies. In one of Harris’ campaign statements, she also claimed that Trump calling himself the “father of IVF” was a key reason women didn’t trust him.
Gabriella Power, a Sky News host, criticized Harris and Obama for allegedly spreading false information. She accused them of using fear tactics to mislead voters and noted that Michelle Obama had previously warned Trump would take away women’s right to have children through IVF. Power sarcastically remarked that the new law expanding IVF access “must come as a shock” to them.
The backlash against the two Democrats follows Trump’s executive order, which aims to make IVF treatments more affordable and accessible. Before the election, Trump had promised to ensure that either the government or insurance companies would cover IVF costs.
“How confusing for the women on the left in America who might have noticed by now, their rights have not been taken away,” Power added, mocking Harris and Obama for allegedly using a “sensitive topic” to manipulate voters and create division.
Trump’s new IVF policy states that either the government or insurance companies will cover the full cost of IVF treatments, saying, “We want more babies!” He emphasized that this move would support American families rather than relying on immigration.
Under the new executive order, an assistant to the president will submit policy recommendations within 90 days on how to protect IVF access and significantly lower treatment costs. According to CNN, the policy’s main goal is to make IVF more affordable and widely available to American citizens. Trump expressed confidence that “women, families, and husbands” would appreciate the new law.
