Donald Trump Issues SCARY Warning to Federal Employees Who Ignored Elon Musk’s E-Mail—What’s Coming Next?

During a recent cabinet meeting, President Donald Trump warned one million federal employees about the consequences of ignoring an email from Elon Musk. The email, sent through the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), asked employees to submit a short report on what they had accomplished in the past week.

On Wednesday, Trump suggested that those who ignored the email could lose their jobs. He said his administration is trying to identify those employees and understand why they did not respond.

The email, titled “What did you do last week?”, instructed employees to send a brief list of five accomplishments and copy their managers. It also warned them not to include any classified information, links, or attachments. The deadline was Monday at 11:59 PM EST.

Elon Musk later posted on X (formerly Twitter), stating that not replying to the email would be considered as a resignation. Trump supported this, saying Musk was helping remove unproductive workers.

At a press conference, Trump praised the decision, saying, “Some people don’t even show up for work, and no one knows if they still work for the government. If they don’t respond, maybe they shouldn’t have a job.”

Trump called Musk’s email a “brilliant move” and said it could help identify employees who might not actually be working. He warned that those who ignored the email “might lose their jobs” as the government investigates who they are.

On the same day, Trump’s administration sent a memo instructing government agencies to prepare plans for firing employees. The memo confirmed Trump’s goal of reducing the federal workforce, which he sees as too large and inefficient.

Some probationary employees have already been dismissed. Now, the government is focusing on tenured workers and has ordered agencies to submit their layoff plans by March 13. Once an employee is fired, their position will also be permanently removed.
