People who spent an average of \$1.78 million each to attend a private dinner with Donald Trump expected something special—but many left disappointed.
The event took place at Trump National Golf Club near Washington, D.C., and was only open to people who had invested in a new cryptocurrency called \$TRUMP, linked directly to the former president. In total, crypto investors spent about \$148 million on this coin, hoping to secure a seat at what was advertised as one of the most exclusive dinners in the world. The top 25 investors alone spent over \$111 million.
About 220 guests showed up for the dinner. One attendee said he invested \$300,000 just to get in. They were seated at elegant tables under chandeliers, and the menu sounded fancy on paper—filet mignon, pan-seared halibut, garlic mashed potatoes, organic salad, and warm lava cake for dessert.
But when the food arrived, the reaction was underwhelming. Some guests compared it to airplane meals, and one said he would have preferred a Big Mac. One TikToker who attended said the only good part was the bread and butter, and that he was only offered water or Trump-branded wine—no soda, juice, or other drink options.
After the meal, Trump gave a short speech that lasted around 25 minutes, and briefly danced to the song “YMCA” before leaving. His time at the event was just about an hour.
Guests were also given gift bags, but those weren’t much better. Most included hats and posters with a “Fight Fight Fight” theme and a plastic collectible card. The top four investors received limited edition Trump-branded watches worth about \$100,000 each. Two more watches were given away in a raffle.
For an event that cost attendees millions, many left feeling like they didn’t get their money’s worth—especially when it came to the food and overall experience.
