Barack Obama hits Donald Trump with scathing Halloween-related blow in unexpectedly heated speech

Former President Barack Obama took aim at Donald Trump during a passionate speech in Norfolk, Virginia, comparing Trump’s time back in the White House to Halloween — saying that under Trump, “every day is like Halloween — all tricks and no treats.”
Speaking at a rally to support Democratic candidate Abigail Spanberger for governor, Obama said even he couldn’t have imagined how bad things would get in the U.S. under Trump’s leadership. “It’s worse than even I expected,” he admitted, adding, “But I did warn y’all.”
Obama criticized Trump for putting wealthy friends and business allies ahead of ordinary Americans. Referring to Trump’s alleged involvement with a convicted cryptocurrency businessman, Obama said, “Is the economy working better for you? Because it sure has gotten better for Trump and his family.” He accused Trump of allowing his close circle and foreign investors to profit from their ties to the presidency.
The former president also mocked some of Trump’s recent controversial projects, including a $300 million renovation of the White House. Trump reportedly covered the Rose Garden with pavement and decorated parts of the White House in gold, even showing off a gold-leaf bathroom online. Obama joked, “He’s focused on critical issues like paving over the Rose Garden so folks don’t get mud on their shoes — and gold-plating the Oval Office.”
Obama went on to condemn Trump’s online behavior, pointing to a disturbing AI-generated video the former president shared, which showed a cartoon version of himself dropping waste on protesters. Obama said such “nonsense” and “fabricated conspiracies” are meant to distract people from what’s really happening — that Trump’s government is helping the rich get richer while everyday Americans struggle with higher bills.
His sharp humor and direct criticism earned huge praise from his supporters. Many called him “the greatest of all time” when it comes to public speaking. One fan wrote, “Obama is still the GOAT in oration.” Another quipped, “Obama is a man with conviction. Trump is a man with many convictions.”
Supporters online thanked Obama for “standing up for sanity” and praised him as an intelligent, caring leader who “Trump could never measure up to.”
Obama’s fiery remarks show he’s still a powerful voice in American politics — and that he’s willing to call out Trump’s actions and behavior in the bluntest, and occasionally funniest, ways possible.
