The internet is many things to the people who use it some see it as a source of entertainment While others as access to information but to Peter a young man in the United States the internet is where he found the love of his life Jane Peter rehearsed time and time again how to talk to a girl but as soon as he stood before one he would stare at her awkwardly as though he was Star Struck.
He skipped along with life hoping that one day his dream girl the one who could fully understand his flaw and wouldn’t mock him would come around well Peter’s prayers were about to be answered a few years later Peter was now a grown man clean shaven and in his mid-20s he had a good job which fetched them a decent salary and was doing well for himself still he was a bit unhappy because he had never had someone to share his life with.
He still hadn’t gotten rid of his timidity so he couldn’t find the courage to talk to the women in his town for this reason he decided to hop on a dating Gap at least he didn’t have to meet up with a girl until he felt comfortable inside he updated his profile in no time and was ready for the adventure two months had gone by and he was yet to get past the talking stage with the plethora of women he had met on the app he gave himself time hoping to find the woman of his dream sooner or later.
Not long after Peter met a beautiful lady from Australia this is the one Peter exclaimed that the first glance at her photo her name was Jane their first conversation was dreamlike and the ones that followed after even better talking to Jane came naturally to Peter he had finally clicked with someone after the first call they talked about all day and at night the conversation was even more interesting from that day forward their conversation took a dramatic turn instead of the simple topics people usually discuss on the phone they were exploring the depths of their feelings and learning everything about each other.
Peter told her all his secrets and bought almost anything he thought she needed if Jane was a fraud then Peter was done for it thankfully she wasn’t but there was something about the relationship that wasn’t particularly normal they had known each other for some months and grown considerably close but they were yet to see each other not even on Skype Peter didn’t care about it at first but later on he began to wonder why Jane hadn’t asked either he figured maybe she didn’t want him to get embarrassed as he had been during their first call she was probably being thoughtful so he decided to be the first to ask maybe Jane would come out of her shell through his boldness.
One night after a wonderful conversation and voice calls as usual he asked the question would you like to talk with me on Skype there was an awkward silence for a moment and the response from Jane of course I’ve been waiting for you to ask Peter couldn’t be more excited he fixed the time for the next day and she agreed the next day dragged itself along like a snail but Peter wasn’t bothered he was going to finally see his Jane rather Mary Jane as they often joked around with themselves Jane regarded Peter as Spike Lee’s titular hero while Peter saw her as his MJ finally the time came for Peter to call her.
However after a couple seconds he was met with a surprise Jane’s face was almost entirely covered with a veil and he could only see her lovely Eyes Peter jokingly asked why she was covering herself and she responded that it was a family tradition that she couldn’t explain to him yet family tradition okay I’ll play by the rules Peter responded casually although he didn’t get to see her face he was happy to have at least confirmed that she was a real person.
Their calls would go on like that for a while longer but Peter didn’t mind Jane was the first woman in his life so he didn’t want to mess things up by asking rude questions with time they felt the attraction they had for each other surged to a new level they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with each other but the distance kept them from being together for real in the meantime Peter noticed that he had grown Bolder around women in his office since he had met Jane before he had avoided them completely he hadn’t even learned their first names now he laughed and joked with them at every chance he got.
He felt as though he’d been missing something all his life and now thanks to Jane he was in a place where he felt complete and satisfied little did he know what have waited them in the days that followed on a certain Thursday while at the office Peter got an urgent call from Jane he could hear her voice break and knew she had been crying he quickly found his way to the restroom to inquire what the problem was amidst tears Jane told him that her family had arranged to marry her during the weekend and this was the last time she would call him.
Peter was devastated his whole world seemed to end at that very moment he mustered up the courage and asked if she had a passport she replied affirmatively it was as though he had planned for this very thing to happen and it arrived at a plausible solution there and then he asked Jane to marry him Jane responded with a quick yes Peter then instructed her to pack her bags and get ready to travel to the U.S the next day he would make plans for them to get married over the weekend.
After the call Peter booked her a flight and paid all the travel expenses he called a few of his close Pals and began the preparation for the wedding Jane was going to arrive in a few hours and Peter’s Joy knew no bounds he wasn’t particularly happy that the wedding was rushed but he couldn’t deny being grateful that it had happened at long last he was going to meet with the love of his life after nine long months of online dating a few minutes before Jane’s arrival Peter was already waiting with a large bouquet he was thinking of what to say or do when he saw her .
soon her plane landed and Peter could feel Goosebumps all over his body his eyes followed all the people that walked past when she arrived she tapped them from behind and told him she is the woman he was waiting for however her face was completely covered just like she always did on Skype calls Peter agreed that she must be Jane because he could recognize her voice and her lovely eyes she told him that he would have to wait till the wedding day to see his bride’s face Peter agreed because he didn’t want to disrespect her tradition and he had already seen her photos she was beautiful he didn’t make a big deal out of it because he also didn’t want to put any more stress on the situation .
however on their wedding day Peter was surprised by what he saw when Jane walked down the aisle every other person was surprised by Jane’s look but they still smile all that her because they believed Peter must have seen her face before and they wanted to support him but Peter was frozen on the spot as he stared at her in disbelief he was hoping that the woman he was seeing was not his Jane but a simple guest who had decided to wear white too when she arrived at the altar he realized that his bride was a middle-aged woman old enough to be his mother.
Peter wiped his eyes to make sure he was seeing properly I’m Jane the woman whispered what are you kidding me what happened to the lady whose pictures you sent me Peter blurted out without thinking the woman began sobbing Peter didn’t care to comfort her and demanded a quick answer she replied that she had sent him the pictures of a model all this while she was clearly much older than Peter and didn’t think he would like her if he knew the truth so she had used those pictures to lure him but now she had fallen in love with him and he too with her Peter couldn’t believe his ears .
