After enduring six procedures, a young model who had her entire top lip bit off in a horrifying attack has displayed her new grin. Before a dog attacked Brooklinn Khoury in November 2020, she was becoming a well-known social media influencer.
The day before she was scheduled to appear in a TV commercial, the 23-year-old was spending time with her cousin and Diesel, her eight-year-old pit bull. They all returned to Brooklinn’s house to relax after a day of exploring. Diesel abruptly swung around and rushed at Brooklinn, plunging his teeth into her face and ripping off her top lip. However, things took a terrible turn.
Brookline described the horrifying encounter to Inside Edition, saying, “He was hanging off of my tongue.” She snapped a photo of her face after the attack, which she finds difficult to look at.
She remembered thinking, “Oh my God, that’s what I look like,” and you could see the horror in her eyes.
How can this be fixed? How can this be fixed? I had no idea that my entire lip had been removed.” Brookline has made significant improvements in the two years since the tragedy, and she has been blogging about it. Even so, it hasn’t been simple.
However, she now has her grin back following six procedures, some of which took about 20 hours. She said, “I don’t think I would have believed you a year ago today if you told me I would look the way that I do. It took Brooklinn nearly a year to locate a doctor who would take on her case because of the severity of her injuries.
She came across Dr. Nicholas Do in November 2021, who offered to try his best to restore Brooklinn’s smile. He created a brand-new upper lip that is entirely functional using the skin and nerves from her arm. Plastic surgery can’t completely duplicate what was lost, but if we can replicate it well enough, he claimed, most people shouldn’t be able to tell the difference. However, Brooklinn’s struggle is far from done because she will have another operation later this month.
