A bride-to-be who got dumped just before her wedding got the ultimate revenge after her ex told her she was ‘too fat’
Like any bride-to-be, Jen Atkins was very excited to plan her wedding when suddenly her fiance called it all off.
He told her she was eating too much junk food and that she was ‘too fat’. This was a turning point for the 26-year-old from England who has since lost more than 50 kg of her weight and won a beauty contest.
The 26-year-old secretary who lives in England stopped eating takeaways, started going to the gym and managed to lose weight from 112 kg to 59 kg.
Jen is now happily married to another man and won the title of Miss Great Britain in the country’s biggest beauty pageant.
“I’m still in shock from winning, and I’m so happy I have no words – I really still can’t believe it”, she said after winning the competition.
‘Hard work pays off’
“When I started doing it – it was for fun, I never imagined how far I would go. Three years ago I would never have thought I would be Miss Great Britain”.
“Hard work really pays off”.
Jen stopped competing in beauty pageants after she got married but when she was given the chance to compete in the Miss Great Britain pageant she decided to go for it.
“Winning Miss Great Britain marks the end of a long and difficult, but amazing journey”, she said.
“Even though my body has changed so much, I don’t think my personality has changed, and I think that’s what helped me”.
Jen said she weighed a lot while planning her wedding and was lonely and eating takeaways. The ex-fiancé decided to call off the wedding in 2015. At that time, Jen weighed 107 kg.
“The day he left me I thought my whole world was collapsing – I cried for weeks and used food as a comfort”, she said.
“When we broke up, I was broken but in the end it was the best thing that happened to me in my life”.
As hard as it was for Jen to deal with, it was a wake-up call to living a healthier life. She is such an inspiration.
