the British Naomi Leighton always had the dream of being a mother and after years of trying she finally managed to get pregnant she and her husband John Wilkins were Overjoyed.
However a routine examination brought news that shook the couple at nine weeks pregnant the couple discovered that their baby girl Penelope was suffering from ectopic Cuts this means that the baby’s heart was outside the body.
The rare and often fatal condition consists of A congenital malformation in which the baby lacks the external or what makes up the rib cage and helps protect the heart the pregnancy was distressing for the couple who at times were advised to terminate the pregnancy for the parents.
However interrupting the birth was not an option and they decided to give Penelope a chance after the delicate birth Penelope was immediately taken to the operating room where a team of more than 50 Specialists inserted special lines into the umbilical cord to allow the hearts to receive vital fluids and medications.
Despite the few changes the little girl survived and was operated on again and now for the hearts to be placed in the rib cage a protection would be needed over the place so as to not leave the organ exposed and after another year and two months in the hospital Penelope was finally discharged and able to go home.
Her mother said we are the happiest parents in the world it’s been a crazy ride with the Motions we never thought we’d feel but today we can finally close this chapter and start a new one now with our daughter at home
