Donald Trump faced some embarrassment on CNN when they aired a short video clip that showed several people from his team praising him during official meetings. The video lasted only 30 seconds, but it made a big impact.
CNN added a breaking news banner during the segment that read: “Investor: Some quietly fear whether ‘Trump might be insane.’” The way people in the video spoke so kindly to Trump telling him how great he was and how much they admired him—caught the attention of many viewers. A lot of people felt the praise was too much and didn’t seem genuine.
The video quickly started conversations online. Richard Hanania, who runs a research center that studies politics and public opinions, posted on social media saying that this kind of behavior reminded him of how leaders in countries like North Korea are treated, where people are forced to act like everything the leader does is perfect.
He said no one forced these people in the video to act that way, and that it felt wrong, even “anti-human.” He believed they should be ashamed of themselves.
Other viewers agreed and made similar comments. One person questioned why anyone would need so much praise and asked if Trump might need mental help. Another said it was “cringe,” meaning it was awkward and uncomfortable to watch.
Someone else compared the video to a scene straight out of Game of Thrones, a TV show known for dramatic loyalty and betrayal. Another viewer said it was an example of how politics often turns into exaggerated drama where people try to outdo each other in showing loyalty.
However, not everyone saw it in a negative light. Some people defended Trump and said it was normal for leaders to be praised, especially when they are doing a good job. One person said having a strong leader helps give people confidence in their country and its future. Another thanked CNN for airing the segment, saying they were glad to see Trump being appreciated.
At the same time, Trump is also involved in a growing trade conflict with China. He recently announced that the U.S. would increase taxes on goods imported from other countries, claiming it was a way to protect American industries. He called it “Liberation Day” for the U.S., suggesting that it would free the country from unfair trade deals.
China quickly responded by raising their own taxes on goods coming from the U.S., setting them as high as 125%. China’s President Xi Jinping wasn’t happy and called Trump a bully. He also encouraged European countries to stand up against Trump’s trade policies and defend their own economies.
The UK also got hit with a 10% tax increase from Trump. In response, British leader Keir Starmer said he didn’t want to start a trade war, but he made it clear he would do what’s best for the country if needed.
All of this shows how tense things are getting, both politically and economically. While Trump’s supporters believe he’s showing strength, others feel his actions—and the way he’s treated by his own team—raise serious concerns.
