In the waters near Mallorca, an island in Spain, a distressing situation unfolded when a 12-meter-long humpback whale became entangled in a harmful net.
The whale, unfortunately, was caught in what is known as a drift net, a type of fishing net that is illegal due to its severe impact on marine life and ecosystems. These nets were banned by the United Nations years ago because they cause extensive harm to the sea and its inhabitants.
The plight of the whale drew significant attention as it struggled to free itself from the entanglement.
