In the days when the raging COVID-19 epidemic is causing entire societies to shut down, there is a lot of ways people can become creative to help their endless stay-at-home days pass. And some are not just creative but turn out to be beneficial ideas.

Below is the story of how an 8-year-old girl from Ashton-Under-Lyne in Greater Manchester, United Kingdom, made her days of staying at home meaningful.

Delivery of goods for those confined to their homes has created plenty of work for delivery drivers. Little girl Tallulah started to recognize the delivery worker in her neighborhood who visited the area twice a week to dispatch parcels.

The two of them formed a special bond as time went by.

The delivery employee, Tim Joseph, however, was not able to hear.

After discovering her friend’s impairment, Tallulah became determined to use her spare time at home for some meaningful education.

She wanted to pick up sign language, and her mom Amy Roberts was there to encourage and help her.

Finally, after many rehearsals, Tallulah was ready.

On one of his average days at work, Tim, the delivery worker, saw the little girl he made friends with, and she had something to show him.

She greeted him in sign language, “have a good day,” and it made Tim’s day!

“Tallulah realized I was deaf and then one day she surprised me when she signed to me, ’have a good day,’ I think she learned sign language at school,” Tim shared his thoughts of that special moment with BBC.

What was even more surprising was that Tallulah’s sign language seemed not to be much of a problem with her at all.

“I was very happy, and I then showed Tallulah how to sign, ‘good morning, have a good day,’ and then she signed it perfectly and it made my day.”

Her mother captured the memorable moment. According to Roberts, the pair has become close.

“Tallulah’s always asking me, ‘Have you bought anything, mom? Is my friend coming today?’”

During the dark days of the lethal disease that threatens the lives of millions worldwide, such a small and simple gesture of compassion like this could revive a person’s spirit.
