President Donald Trump may reportedly be planning his return to Twitter now that his account has been reinstated, multiple sources are reporting.
Elon Musk, the new owner and CEO of Twitter, reacted to the news via a tweet on his platform.
“Will be interesting to see how the Biden administration reacts to this,” Musk wrote on Twitter in response to the reports. “They may try to weaponize Federal agencies against Twitter.”
On Wednesday, Turning Point USA President Charlie Kirk reiterated the rumor that Trump would be returning to the platform. “Donald Trump’s campaign has officially petitioned Facebook to unblock his account,” Kirk wrote. “He is also reportedly preparing to return to Twitter, per NBC.”
In November 2022, Musk reinstated President Trump’s Twitter account after it had been permanently suspended in January 2021. The move came after the SpaceX and Tesla CEO polled Twitter users on whether Trump should be allowed on the platform. As reported by RSBN, the poll garnered more than 15 million votes, with 51.8 percent of those polled indicating that they felt the president’s account should be restored.
In October 2022, Trump made it clear that he would not be returning to Twitter if his account was reinstated, telling Fox News Digital that he liked Elon and wished him “a lot of luck,” but “I am staying on Truth, I like it better, I like the way it works, I like Elon, but I’m staying on Truth.”
However, in mid-November 2022, Trump launched a 2024 presidential bid, and many people saw his return to the campaign trail as an open invitation for him to return to social media sites like Twitter.
Via RSBN, Facebook is set to announce whether they will allow Trump to return to the social media website, in addition to its second platform, Instagram, following their January 2021 ban on his accounts.
