Girl Sends Letters to Late Mom Asking to Take Her Away from Aunt, Gets a Reply in Mailbox
When every sliver of hope turns into darkness and despair, an orphaned little girl turns to her late mother for help. She writes letters and posts them to her dead mother, begging her to take her away from her evil aunt.
One day, an answer arrives. It was a bright and sunny Sunday morning. The reflection of the cloudless blue sky sparkling in seven-year-old Vicky’s big brown eyes as her mother, Katie, braided her hair on their porch. Vicky’s shrill whistle fleeted across the air as Roger, their dog, came running with a frisbee in his mouth.
Sundays in their beautiful backyard would be filled with laughter and joy. So much fun the trio had, just so much of it. “Mommy, are we going to the zoo today? How about your favorite cookies and cream?” Vicky exclaimed. Katie laughed and shouted, “Hey, Roger, watch out!” Katie ran screaming as Vicky splashed water from the garden hose on her mom and dog. So much shouting and happiness sprawled in their little world.
They then drove off with Roger to the zoo and then to the ice cream parlor, placing bets on who would finish an entire ice cream tub in five minutes.
Off they drove past the sun-kissed streets, singing along to Elvis as his “Now or Never” classic played on their car’s stereo. It was one of the best Sundays Vicky had ever had. If she only knew she’d have to wait for a long time before another happy weekend in her life.
The following Monday, after school, Vicki sat on the bench near her school gate, waiting for her mom to pick her up. Katie was an interior designer, and after her husband died of cancer a few years ago, she shuttled between work and tending to her daughter.
But she managed to pull it off without any qualms. “It’s gonna be 4, why hasn’t mommy come yet?” Vicky grew tense as she kept checking the time on her wristwatch.
