Sometimes happiness comes with a price Megan had found a man of her dreams but he came with a heavy baggage in the form of a nagging mother their cohabitation was not working well for her and when her husband came home from work one day he discovered just how much his mother’s presence had weighed on his wife Joe and Megan met in college when their relationship became serious they began to discuss their future together.

They both knew they wanted to get married but couldn’t say when Joe especially made it clear that he was going to take his time but Megan didn’t imagine it would take him so long because Joe didn’t propose till about eight years later when he finally got down on one knee she felt that all her dreams were coming true Megan was so excited to be his wife but something kept nagging at the back of her mind and that was Nancy her mother-in-law everyone is wary of having a mean mother-in-law and Megan was worried but because of the signs she had gotten from Nancy Joe was not a mama’s boy but he respected his mother and tried to please her in every situation.

when she and Nancy first met she had been so welcoming and Megan was grateful for her luck but in their subsequent meetings she noticed that Nancy always made her do the oddest things and also put her in her place she wanted Megan to know that she would forever be the most important woman in her son’s life Megan understood her worries because she must have heard these stories about Darin law forcing Sons to cut contacts with their mothers but she had hoped Nancy would get to know her first then things escalated when Nancy started hinting that she would live with them once they got married .

She said she wanted to help them settle in but Megan thought that was unnecessary Joe was excited at the thought of it but when Megan related her worries about the whole thing he assured her he was going to dissuade his mom then on their wedding day Megan was told Nancy would be moving in with them all through the wedding she thought of what it would be like to have Nancy live with them and tried not to imagine the worst little did she know what lay ahead after the wedding Nancy didn’t move in after a month and Megan wished it meant she had changed her mind but Nancy was only giving them their privacy as newlyweds.

when she moved in everything changed Megan already had a routine before Nancy started Living with them she worked remotely so she had designed a schedule that helped her do the chores and her work and even get some sleep in between but when Nancy came Meghan began doing chores all day Nancy would wake her as early as 5am to make breakfast because according to her that was the right thing for a wife to do Megan would then scrub each room and do the laundry before she was done it was already time for lunch and Nancy never missed lunch so Megan would have to cook for her after that Megan worked a little but when it was 5 PM she had to start dinner because Nancy would not have it any other way some days Megan tried to do only little chores and get some rest.

But Nancy would keep banging on the door till she woke up even if there was nothing to do Nancy would find something to bother her with Megan only got to rest a bit on weekends because her husband helped out even though Nancy was against it Joe knew his mom made his wife wake up so early to make him breakfast, but when he complained his mom assured him it was the right thing to do besides the early breakfast he knew nothing else that went on in his house Megan couldn’t tell her husband because she was sure his mom would convince him that it wasn’t that bad.

So she bore the pain and continued the routine but it took a great toll on her she dreaded waking up each day and was not as cheerful as she used to be her husband began to worry and even thought she was sick so he asked her to see the doctor but she insisted she was fine Nancy didn’t mind that Megan was getting lean from all the stress she kept weighing her down with chores one day Megan locked herself inside her room after her husband left for work and Nancy caused the scene that had neighbors wondering what was going on?.

She then pretended to be having an attack which got Megan out after she came out of the room Nancy took the keys shoved a pile of laundry into her arms and went to watch a movie after the scenario she knew it wouldn’t get better until Nancy left the house she couldn’t tell her husband to ask his mom away to leave but she prayed for it to happen every day her prayers were answered in the end but her wish came at a price that day Nancy had given her heinous tasks as usual but she had already gotten used to it and wasn’t worried about it.

suddenly!, she started feeling dizzy but she ruled it out as hunger and continued her chores when the dizziness intensified she decided to eat before continuing her chores as she was about to eat Nancy came in holding a dress with the instructions that Megan had to iron it immediately because she had an important meeting to attend knowing that her mother-in-law won’t allow her to take one more bite she collected her dress and went to iron it suddenly she felt a sharp pain and the next thing she knew she was in a hospital bed with a worried looking husband sitting next to her.

she asked her husband how she had gotten to the hospital? her husband then narrated all that happened after she collapsed he said he had gotten off work early because she wanted to surprise her he had been worried about her and wanted to take her out for a nice dinner on getting home he met his mother in the living room and asked for his wife she had responded that she was probably in their bedroom he checked the bedroom and didn’t find her so he began searching every room.

When he opened the door to the laundry room what he saw made him tremble lying unconsciously on the floor was Megan she was clutching onto a dress and a plugged in Iron was just inches from her stomach her face was pale and when he checked her pulse she barely had one he screamed out his mother’s name and they called an ambulance when the paramedics arrived his mother insisted on riding in the van with Megan and kept saying she was sorry when he asked why she was apologizing she didn’t get any response but he understood that she had something to do with his wife’s State on getting to the hospital Megan was rushed to the emergency room to be treated before she regained Consciousness.

The doctor revealed to Joe that Megan had been a few weeks pregnant but they lost the baby because she had been undergoing so much stress and was not eating well he also told him that Megan had also almost lost her life and he had been lucky to find her when he did on hearing what the doctor said Joe had confronted his mother and asked her why his wife was ironing her dress Nancy got defensive and said that she had been teaching her how to be a good wife and that she didn’t mean to get her hurt but Joe wasn’t having it so he told his mother to get her things from his house and leave before for he returned from the hospital Nancy began to protest but he mentioned that they had lost their baby.
