‘He’s Been a Complete Failure’: Elie Mystal Blasts AG Merrick Garland For Not Stopping ‘Drug-Pusher’ Trump
Justice Correspondent for The Nation Elie Mystal told SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah that Attorney General Merrick Garland has been “a complete failure” because all the “election-deniers, coup-plotters,” and Donald Trump remain able to run for office.
On Friday’s edition of The Dean Obeidallah Show, the host asked Mystal whether he would say now, “two years and 19 days out from January 6th” that Garland has failed to hold Trump and others accountable.
Yes,” said Mystal. “He’s been a complete failure.”
“Because at the point when you have so failed in your job as attorney general that all of these election-deniers, coup-plotters and the MAGA leader himself, Donald Trump, can either run for office in the midterm or promise to run for office for president in two years, you, as the law enforcement officer, has failed,” said Mystal.
OBEIDALLAH: I mean, when you look at Merrick Garland now two years and 19 days out from January 6th, has he failed, in your view, in terms of holding Donald Trump accountable?
MYSTAL: Yes. Yes, He’s been a complete failure. And look, I call the failure, I say that we need to start calling him a failure before the last midterm, right? Because at the point when you have so failed in your job as attorney general that all of these election-deniers, coup-plotters and the MAGA leader himself, Donald Trump, can either run for office in the midterm or promise to run for office for president in two years. You, as the law enforcement officer, has failed. Right?
It would be just like if I was some kind of, you know, drug kingpin. And, you know, they tried to stop my organization and then it worked so, so poorly that I was literally going out on TV being like, ‘you guys got to get this pandemic! To get this pan–‘ right? And nobody did anything to me, right?
Like, that’s what — Donald Trump is the the drug-pusher pushing lies and deceit and violence on national television, now again, on social media platforms. And nobody is doing anything to stop him. That is Merrick Garland’s absolute failure.
