This is the path taken by Kevin Howard and his wife when they expressed their desire to separate after celebrating 12 years of marriage.
Although the North Carolina couple were involved in therapy, Kevin had a nagging suspicion that his wife was keeping a secret. He would have obtained the services of a private detective to discover the truth.
In a sudden turn of events, Mr. Howard learns that his wife has been having an affair with a co-worker. Kevin felt like they were just friends.
Suddenly, Al Howards was in the middle of a painful divorce, and Kevin took the extra step of suing his wife’s ex-lover. Prosecutors alleged the other man was wrong to keep him away from his wife for more than a decade.
Mr. Howard stressed that the lawsuit was not about financial gain.
“I believe in the sanctity of marriage,” he told CNN. “Other families should see what the consequences are not only of breaking the vow of any religion you believe in, but also of your legal responsibilities. ”
Surprisingly, in a few states, including North Carolina, there is a “housekeeper” law, and the judge recently ruled in favor of Kevin. He received a massive settlement of $750,000.
