While there are vegans who are far from killing and using any products derived from animals, there are fans of hunting for meat who abolish meat farms. There are people who are still into trophy hunting and conservationists who will die to save animals and vegetation. A similar conversation happened on Twitter, where a former MMA legend expressed his views on killing sport for meat.

Jake Shields shared a post where a trophy killer was reported killed by the brother of the lion he killed for an Instagram picture. Interestingly, as per reports, Lion’s brother took his revenge and killed the hunter. Shields seemed to love the revenge and expressed his opinions on the same.

UFC legend Jake Shields doesn’t support trophy hunting
Jake Shields‘s tweet was a clear indication that he does not support hunting for collecting trophies and especially when it’s about endangered species.

Replying to him, a user tweeted, “I believe in hunting – but not trophy hunting – I have family members who hunt – we eat what they kill. No lions tho”

The users’ tweet drew a reaction from Jake Shields. The 31-9 record holder who fought across multiple promotions supported the killing sports for eating. He tweeted, “Killing for sport is wrong as long as you eat its much better than factory farms

Shields‘s tweet can be considered given the worldwide calls for curbing hunting of all kinds to conserve fauna species on the planet. As vegetarian and vegan diets are gaining popularity across the world, there is a faction of believers who think hunting for meat is a healthy practice.

Conservation Vs killing for eating
One of the exponents of the killing-for-eating philosophy is the UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan. He has accepted hunting Elk for meat and supports hunted meat. Celebrities across the world have divided opinions on game hunting. Kylie Jenner was recently under fire online after she wore a faux Lion’s headdress at the Schiaparelli Couture show 2023. She was accused of promoting big game hunting and taxidermy. Animal rights organization PETA defended Kylie Jenner, stating that she and some other celebrities had only brought awareness towards the big cats and their wearing fake heads was in no violation of any animal rights.

While 5X MMA champion Shields looked in favor of hunting for meat, He was very specific that he supported hunting only for eating and not for trophies.

What’s your take on trophy hunting? Do you think hunting for range meat is better than eating farmed meat?
