Mom of disabled son & teacher in tears to learn she can finally afford surgery she desperately needs
For years she was struggling with pain but she was unable to have the surgery since she had no one to care for her son
As a single mom who has a disabled son, she knew right from the beginning of this journey that it would be hard, but she never gave up.
When her son, Luke, was born, doctors were positive that he would not survive past his first birthday, but the guy just kept receiving love and care, and not only did he survive but he thrived in his own special way.
Margo always made sure to provide the best care to him, and to make sure that he’d live a full life regardless of his condition.
Indeed, Luke grew up to be an amazing boy who, in 2019 turned 19
At the time, Margo was a teacher’s aide at Bonneville High School, while her son was attending the special ed program, confined in a wheelchair
Margo works two jobs and never complains. She routinely has to visit Salt Lake City to obtain medical care for her child and she does what she can to make sure he lives a full life,” East Idaho News shared about Plum and her son.
Three years ago, right before Christmas, Margo’s van happened to need full service and maintenance of the ramp that helped her put Luke on board.
At the same time, Margo herself was having a hard time with a torn rotator cuff that she desperately needed to be operated for, but she couldn’t afford it
Thanks to Margo’s kindness and inspiring personality, someone noticed her and thought she deserved better. So, they talked about her to Secret Santa, a businessman from Idaho who has been gifting more than $500k every year to Idahoans who need help.
Three years ago, Margo happened to be one of those lucky people.
Nate Eaton with East Idaho News and his team- or his fellow Santa’s elves- drove to Bonneville High School to surprise Margo while at work.
They found her when she was having lunch. While she was embarrassed, she admitted that it was better than making her cry in front of her students.
Indeed, moments later, the woman cried tears of joy when she found out what her presents were that Christmas.
You see, Secret Santa knew exactly what her van’s issues were and they sent her a note reading that the full service of the van was covered as was any maintenance work for the ramp attached to it.
Margo was really happy to know that she could still drive her son safely around town.
But there was an even bigger surprise for her.
When she opened the second gift box, she found a $5k check, which was to cover her son’s in-home care while she’d be recovering from surgery.
Margo was speechless. She couldn’t hold back her tears at that point
So much so that she had to send an email to East Idaho News later to thank the Secret Santa and everyone involved
