Journalist Galen Druke said that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been strongly criticizing Donald Trump, especially focusing on what many see as his biggest weakness—his connection to wealthy people and billionaires.

Political analyst Nate Silver shared his opinion that he thinks Ocasio-Cortez, a Democratic congresswoman from New York, will be the Democratic candidate for president in 2028. He admitted she was always his top choice and said he couldn’t hide that anymore. He said this during a video conversation with Galen Druke, which was posted on Silver’s newsletter called *Silver Bulletin*.

Druke supported that idea, saying that Ocasio-Cortez has a lot going for her right now. She’s gained a lot of support within the Democratic Party. He mentioned a recent poll from Yale that showed she had the highest net favorability rating among all the Democrats included in the survey.

The same poll also showed that Pete Buttigieg, who was once the Secretary of Transportation, and Kamala Harris, the Vice President, are also popular choices among Democratic voters.

Druke explained that the Democratic primary race will likely be a battle for attention. He said Ocasio-Cortez already stands out because she’s been very vocal lately, especially when criticizing tech billionaire Elon Musk and former President Trump’s political plans. He pointed out that the media is fascinated by her and follows everything she does. That kind of attention could help her stay in the spotlight throughout the campaign.

Silver agreed and listed more reasons why she could do well—her strong polling numbers, her progressive views, her youth, and how well she handles media attention. Still, he wasn’t sure if she actually wants to run for president. But Druke responded confidently, doubling down on his belief that she will.

In the end, both Silver and Druke said Ocasio-Cortez would be their first choice to lead the Democratic ticket in 2028. They also mentioned how much political experience she’s gained since joining Congress.

They named Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as their second pick if Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t run.

Druke also pointed out that Ocasio-Cortez is focusing her message on the economy, and that she’s been quick to criticize Trump for having so many billionaires in his administration.
