What started out as an ordinary patrol turned into one viewed by hundreds of thousands.

Lance Hofmeister, a police officer with the Murfreesboro Police Department in Tennessee, was out during his shift when he came across an elderly woman walking along the side of a highway with a walker.

He pulled his vehicle over to check on her, and that’s when he learned the 84-year-old wasn’t lost, but had a destination in mind. So Hofmeister helped her get there and in the process created “a sweet moment” seen by many.

On the day that Hofmeister encountered Elizabeth Goode, the 84-year-old was on her way to a hair appointment. She had taken a bus from Nashville and gotten off at a stop about a mile away from the hair salon.

She was walking along the side of the highway when Hofmeister spotted her and asked if she would like a ride.

Goode agreed, and Hofmeister helped her into the back of his vehicle.

While the ride to the salon was short, the officer said it was a meaningful one as it brought back memories he shared with his grandmother who he recently lost.

“I lost my grandmother a couple of years back, and it just gave me that feeling all over again of just the sincere nostalgic – it was a great feeling.”

When the two arrived at the salon, someone in the parking lot caught the two walking inside and shared the clip on TikTok.
