Dmitry and varvara had known each other since childhood when they got married they were already dreaming of having children, when marvara found out she could not conceive naturally the couple opted for fertility treatment after all they were going on seven years married and they were still childless.

The couple was ecstatic when they found out that warvara was pregnant six weeks later at their first doctor’s visit they got the surprise of their lies doctors informed them that they were not expecting only one baby but a surprising five.

The parents could not believe how blessed they were but the doctors were not sharing the same optimism they suggested in fact that some of the babies should be aborted in order to increase the chances of survival for the others, going from being absolutely filled with joy to being confronted with this decision must have been extremely hard but Dimitri and varvara immediately resorted to their fate without much thought.

They knew that aborting some of the babies would not be an option for them there were members of the Orthodox church and they did not believe that they had the right to make such a decision over life and death to them only God had the power to choose what to do with their babies.

The medical authorities were not able to support the pregnancy with all five babies the couple was encouraged to seek support and Care outside the country fortunately the family could secure the help of a British specialist at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford England if it wasn’t for the generous help of a local businessman they would not have been able to afford the trip and the medical interventions.

delivering the girls was not without risk statistically the chances of all of them surviving the birth were very low this disturbing news was communicated clearly to varvara and Dimitri by the Specialists.

varvara’s life was also at risk as often happens with the birth of multiple children the couple decided nonetheless to put their trust in these British doctors in order to secure the best chance for all the babies to survive.
