Stranger Things star Grace Van Dien focusing on streaming instead of acting after producer asked her for sex

Stranger Things star Grace Van Dien is focusing on streaming after a number of bad experiences on her latest acting projects.

Van Dien – who played Chrissy Cunningham in season four of the hit Netflix show – recalled a producer asking her for a threesome when explaining her change in career direction.

Opening up about why she had been ‘turning down acting projects’, she told her 285,000 followers: “The fact of the matter is the last few projects I’ve worked on I didn’t have the best experiences with some of the people I had to work for.

“And with streaming, I get to choose who I hang out with, who I talk to, etc etc.”

She continued: “One of the last movies I did, one of the producers he hired a girl that he was sleeping with and then he had her ask me to have a threesome with them.

“So like, that’s my boss. And I didn’t, and I cried. I was so upset.”

As well as the unsolicited advances from producers, Van Dien has had to put up with trolling from Stranger Things fans too.

Co-star Joseph Quinn – who plays Eddie Munson – shared a lot of scenes with Van Dien, and while the majority of fans became engrossed in their blossoming relationship once the season hit the streaming service last year, Van Dien became the focus of relentless trolling comments online.

During a live Q&A at Showmasters’ London Comic Con last Saturday (4 March), Quinn was asked: “From the perspective of an actor and a friend and a support of women, what your thoughts are on the harassment that Grace Van Dien’s received for playing your on-screen love interest?”

According to the Independent, he labelled the abuse ‘awful’.

“I was talking to her about it. The internet is a very unforgiving place,” Quinn replied.

“It’s a place where people can show a lot of support, or where people can rally around hatred and misinformation.

“It’s indicative of where we are culturally – just through association she was getting lambasted. It’s disgusting.

“I don’t know what to say other than it sucks.”

Of course, the majority of people aren’t horrible b******s, and the Stranger Things fan base welcomed Quinn’s comments.

“I’m glad he spoke about it, Grace doesn’t deserve any of the hate and it’s just ridiculous,” one fan tweeted.

Another added: “It was only a matter of time before he said something. I’m glad to know for sure now that he is aware of the situation.”

A third agreed: “Yeah, the hate Grace gets is gross. People need to sort their attitudes out.”

While a fourth fan shared pictures of Quinn and Van Dien together and captioned the snaps: “Joseph Quinn, thank you for sticking up for our girl! we love and appreciate you so much.”
