2-Year-Old Boy Takes Care of His Disabled Mother: ‘Sometimes I Feel Sorry for Him’

A young boy is being hailed as a guardian angel after he took on a heavy responsibility that not a lot of kids his age could do. Instead of playing the entire day, he helps his disabled mom move around wherever they go.

At two years old, children are expected to play, run around, and just be children. They are energetic little toddlers who want nothing more than to stay active.

For little Pomelo, however, his daily routine involves taking care of his disabled mother. He does all of these without complaint, as he was trained to be independent ever since he could remember.

Pomelo is Wise and Responsible for His Age
Pomelo’s mother, Wang, has cerebral palsy, which limits her muscle control, so her young boy does everything he can to assist her.

Two-year-old Pomelo holds his mom’s blow dryer while she dries her hair, takes her hand as she walks down a flight of steps, helps in feeding her, and even picks up her shoes for her. He is also no stranger to chores and is used to cooking, cleaning the table, and even hanging his clothes to dry.

Wang is proud to say her boy is very intelligent. He remembers the things she says and warns her to be careful in certain situations. One time, Wang fell while trying to give Pomelo a bottle of milk. When her son asked why she fell, she explained that the floor was slippery. Since then, Pomelo made sure his mom was extra careful while stepping on slippery surfaces.

Pomelo’s parents work as delivery couriers, so he is often left with his grandmother at home. He makes sure not to give her a hard time by helping with the chores and staying out of trouble as much as possible.

Hoping to Give Pomelo the Best Life
Ultimately, Pomelo’s mom sees him as their biggest blessing in life. Before he came, her marriage to Pomelo’s dad, who also has cerebral palsy, was something frowned upon by their family. However, when he was born, their marriage was finally blessed by the love of the sweet little boy.

While many question Wang’s decision to have a child despite her limitations, the mother insists she wouldn’t have it any other way

However, Wang admits, “Sometimes, I feel sorry for him,” with Pomelo taking on so much responsibility at a young age. That’s why she and her husband are working very hard to give him a brighter future.

The couple wants to provide Pomelo with a good education, especially since he is an intelligent young man. Although they struggle physically, the parents hope that they can give their son the best life possible.

How Others View Their Family
After sharing their story on the internet, many showed support for their happy little family. “I’m sure their child will have a higher degree of empathy and compassion than a normal child. The world certainly could use more of that,” one viewer said.

Another echoed the same sentiments, writing: “This little boy will be so empathetic and capable of caring for others, so no, these parents are not selfish, they have gifted the world with a humanitarian extraordinaire.”

However, there were also some who challenged their decision to become parents, given their disabilities. To respond to these doubters, Wang said that she had the right to fight for the type of life she wanted because she is persevering. The proud mom added:

“I chose to be a mother. I’m confident that I can bring up my son. Disabled people are people too. Where there’s life, there’s a way.”

Motivated by their love for Pomelo, the happy couple will continue to work towards a better future for their family. With newfound support from people on the internet, they are given an added boost of encouragement to keep chasing their dreams.
