The Union County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO) says the two Lake Butler girls who crossed state lines to meet an unknown person are still in Alabama.
Deputies say 12-year-old Jade Gregory and 14-year-old Khloe Larson are in the Alabama Juvenile Detention Facility and won’t be released until a hearing on Monday.
The two girls left early Thursday morning in an attempt to drive to meet an unknown person they met online in Louisiana.
Deputies say Thursday evening the girls turned themselves into authorities in Alabama after seeing themselves broadcasted in a store nearby.
Union County deputies say the two girls are not cooperating with law enforcement and their parents are frantic.
Deputies clarify that the hold up is in Alabama not Florida.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office says once the girls are released from Alabama custody they will be interviewed and the investigation will continue with the help of the FBI.
UCSO has not confirmed if an arrest of has been made in this case.
