“‘Wait, Woah, Woah, Woah!’ Stephen Miller Explodes at Jake Tapper in Heated Clash Over Trump’s Spending Freeze on CNN”
CNN host Jake Tapper argued with White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller on Tuesday about President Donald Trump’s decision to freeze government spending.
Miller defended Trump’s order, which aimed to block hundreds of billions of dollars in government spending but was stopped by U.S. District Court Judge Loren AliKhan. Miller said, “President Trump promised to ‘drain the swamp,’ and that includes reviewing certain spending programs.”
Tapper responded:
“Stopping money from being spent wrongly makes sense. But many people—Republicans, Democrats, and independents—see this as a broad order that causes confusion. I just want to clarify. Does this affect school lunch programs or other public benefits?”
Miller interrupted, “There is absolutely no impact on public benefits, as OMB has stated clearly. But let’s focus on something important. The federal government has two million employees, and most of them lean far-left.”
Tapper objected, “I’m not sure that’s a fact.”
Miller argued, “I can give you an example. At USAID, 98% of employees donated to Kamala Harris or another left-wing candidate.”
Tapper replied, “But labeling an entire workforce as biased—”
Miller cut in, “Wait, wait! Are you saying that simply stating they voted for Kamala Harris is demonizing them?”
As Miller laughed, Tapper responded, “No, I’m saying you’re implying there’s bias.”
Miller fired back, “But you used the word ‘demonizing.’ You claimed I was demonizing people by pointing out who they voted for.”
Tapper tried to steer the conversation back: “Let’s stay on topic.”
Miller insisted, “I am on topic. Here’s the point: There are two million government employees, and most are left-leaning.”
He concluded, “The American people voted for major change under Trump. It’s important for him to take control of the government and make sure his political appointees review spending to stop unnecessary projects that weren’t approved by Congress.”
