after the act minka became pregnant and being the daughter of conservative farmers she could not face the challenge of having a child out of wedlock so very bravely she gave birth secretly in a home for teenagers with similar cases on may 2nd she had to make the difficult decision to separate from her newborn baby whom she named betty jane.

after the birth she gave her up for adoption minka says she has regretted making that decision all her life but at the time she had no other choice for many years she communicated by letter with the family that adopted betty however the family moved away and she completely lost contact with her daughter it was terrible for minka not to have any information about her daughter.
