34-Year-Old Border Patrol Intel Agent Dies Suddenly Due to “Unexpected and Sudden Heart Attack”
Border Patrol Intel Agent Jose “Merc” Mercado died suddenly on Saturday due to an “unexpected and sudden heart attack.” He was 34.
The news of his death was confirmed by Representative Mayra Flores (TX 34th District) in a social media post.
“My sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Border Patrol Intel Agent, Jose Mercado. He was assigned to RGV Sector in Edinburg, Texas. He passed away yesterday of a sudden heart attack. Keep his family in your prayers,” Flores wrote on her Twitter, which was shared by Representative Chip Roy (R-TX 21st District).
Jose Mercado was a member of Class 875 out of US Border Patrol RGV Sector. He served with the US Border Patrol as an outstanding Agent for 14 years.
A fundraising campaign was created by Veronica Medina to support the Mercado family during their time of need.
At the time of writing, the fundraising had raised $11,285 of the $20,000 goal.
