AOC Calls for Civil Disobedience: “Ignore Trump’s Executive Orders, We Don’t Have to Listen to Him” (WATCH)
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) is calling for peaceful disobedience in response to Donald Trump’s recent executive orders.
Since taking office on Monday, Trump has signed several orders addressing issues like immigration, border control, ending DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), and reorganizing government institutions.
In one of her live stream videos, the New York Congresswoman urged people to ignore executive orders she believes are unconstitutional. She said:
“One simple thing we can do is refuse to comply. For example, the Trump administration just signed orders that attempt to end birthright citizenship, which is protected by the Constitution.
If you’re born in the U.S., you are a citizen. That’s the law. No executive order can override that. We shouldn’t take these actions seriously—they’re illegal and absurd. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t recognize how dangerous their intent is. We just cannot agree to this in advance.”
AOC has also voiced concerns about Trump’s return to office in other ways. Recently, she criticized his handling of TikTok’s possible ban and accused tech leaders like Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg of cozying up to him, claiming that major U.S. social media platforms are now controlled by right-wing influences.
Speaking about Trump’s administration, she warned, “We are on the brink of an authoritarian government. This is what modern fascism is starting to look like.”
