Critical’ reason Melania spending more time with Donald despite being missing from White House

Melania Trump has mostly stayed out of the spotlight since Donald Trump returned to the White House earlier this year. It’s now being reported that she has spent fewer than 14 days at the White House since Trump’s second inauguration on January 20, 2025.
While many wonder why she’s barely seen in public or beside her husband, those close to the couple say she’s been spending more time with him lately—and their son Barron is a big part of the reason why.
Their marriage has had its ups and downs, especially after Trump’s recent legal troubles. Last year, Melania was reportedly furious about the case involving adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who claimed she had an affair with Trump back in 2006, just one year after he married Melania.
Trump denied the allegations, but the trial still took a toll on their relationship. According to journalist Mary Jordan, Melania was extremely upset and the whole situation marked a very low point for her.
Oddly enough, those same legal challenges seem to have brought the couple closer together. Mary Jordan says Melania believes her husband is being unfairly targeted and has grown more protective of him. That shared struggle has helped them reconnect. She explained that while Melania prefers to stay out of the spotlight, she and Donald are spending more time together now than they have in the past. And Barron, their 19-year-old son, plays a key role in that change.
Melania has always been very close to Barron. During Trump’s first term, she delayed moving into the White House so Barron could finish the school year in New York. This time, it’s no different she’s splitting her time between Washington, Florida, and New York, where Barron is now in college.
Reports say she’s deeply concerned about his safety, especially after the attempted assassination on Trump last year and a more recent incident where a gunman approached him on a golf course. These events reportedly left Melania shaken and more determined than ever to keep her son safe.
Even though Melania doesn’t appear in public much, she recently made a rare appearance with Donald when they attended the funeral of Pope Francis in Rome. The couple was seen walking hand-in-hand through the Vatican and appeared affectionate, offering a glimpse of unity. That trip also took place on Melania’s 55th birthday, showing that despite their struggles, they are finding ways to be together.
People close to the family say Melania’s bond with Barron is a major reason for her actions. He is said to be proud of his father’s presidency, and his interest may be encouraging Melania to stand by Trump more. According to Mary Jordan, “They’ve been in a bunker together and they’ve come out of it closer.”
At the end of the day, Melania’s choices seem to come down to protecting her son and supporting her husband during one of the most stressful times in his life—even if she prefers to do it quietly and away from the public eye.
