Deadly New Orleans Attack: Trump Blames Criminals and Slams Democrats – Here’s What He Said!”
President-elect Donald Trump called the New Orleans attack on Wednesday morning “pure evil” and blamed it on “criminals coming into” the country. He also criticized Democrats and the “Fake News Media” in his statement.
Two police officers were shot while responding to the incident but are now in stable condition, according to the authorities. The suspect, who got out of his truck with an assault rifle, was shot and killed by the police.
Fox News reported, based on law enforcement sources, that the suspect’s truck entered the U.S. through Eagle Pass, Texas. However, the suspect’s citizenship status has not yet been confirmed.
Shortly after Fox’s report, Trump posted on Truth Social, repeating his concerns about criminals entering the country:
“When I said the criminals coming in are worse than the ones already here, Democrats and the Fake News Media denied it. But it turned out to be true. The crime rate in our country is at an all-time high. Our hearts go out to the innocent victims, their families, and the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department. My administration will fully support the City of New Orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil.”
Local authorities in New Orleans reported that a man drove a pickup truck into crowds on Bourbon Street at about 4:15 a.m. ET after New Year’s Eve celebrations, killing at least 20 people and injuring over 30.
FBI Special Agent Alethea Duncan confirmed that an improvised explosive device was also found at the scene, and the agency is investigating further.
