city traffic jam won’t stop dedicated doctor
A doctor stuck in a city traffic jam knew there was no time to spare. So, he got out of his car and ran all the way to the hospital!

Gastroenterology surgeon Dr. Govind Nandakumar was on his way to a scheduled surgery in Bengaluru, but he was caught in a city traffic jam. He didn’t care so much about the traffic but rather he cared about making his patients wait on him.

“I did not want to waste any more time waiting for the traffic to clear up as my patients aren’t allowed to have their meals until surgery is over,” said Dr. Nandakumar “I did not want to keep them waiting for so long.”

Can you imagine how much he truly cares about his patients? Even though his morning didn’t start off the greatest, he was more concerned about the patients depending on him instead of his own personal issues.

Doctor Abandons Car In City Traffic Jam

Instead of waiting for the city traffic jam to clear up in the city that boasts over eight million people, he took matters into his own hands. He ditched his car and ran almost two miles to get to the hospital. Would you do the same thing and leave your car behind?

Thanks to his quick feet, Dr. Nandakumar’s patients got the care they needed even though his feet may have been at the mercy of a few blisters.

“The patient recovered well, and the surgery went smoothly,” he said. “I run every day, and in fact, before I had to do this I just finished in the gym. Normally I run 3-5 kilometers a day, but running in the middle of the road in formal shoes is not ideal.”

Sometimes you do what you’ve got to do for the sake of others. Selflessness is a character trait we need to refine and build upon in our faith journey. We must have empathy for others and put ourselves in someone else’s shoes.

The second most important command is this: ‘Love your neighbor the same as you love yourself. These two commands are the most important,” Mark 12:31.
