President Trump spoke to reporters at the White House on April 23, 2025, sharing how he feels about his second time leading the country. In a new interview with *The Atlantic*, Trump said that things are different now compared to his first term. Back then, he said he had two big challenges: running the country and trying to survive politically because of what he called “crooked guys” trying to take him down. Now, he says, his role has grown even bigger. “The second time, I run the country and the world,” Trump said.

Since returning to the White House in January, Trump has made some major moves, especially on immigration and trade. His actions have drawn a lot of attention — and a lot of criticism. Some of his decisions have ended up in court battles, and world leaders have pushed back hard, especially when it comes to trade policies.

One of the biggest controversies so far has been Trump’s decision to impose tariffs on many countries, even some of America’s closest trading partners. Although he’s paused some of these country-specific tariffs until July, the announcements have already shaken global markets and made investors nervous about what’s coming next.

Trump’s approach to foreign policy has also strained relationships with traditional allies. His comments about wanting Greenland and even suggesting Canada could somehow become part of the U.S. haven’t been well received internationally. Meanwhile, Trump has been trying to play peacemaker by working to broker a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, spending much of his early months in office focused on that crisis.

During his interview with *The Atlantic*, Trump was also asked about the idea of running for a third term—something he has joked about before. While some Republicans have brushed off the idea as not serious, Trump addressed it directly. He said it’s not something he’s aiming for and admitted it would be very difficult to pull off.

Looking ahead, Trump plans to celebrate his first 100 days back in office with a rally in Michigan. The event will take place in Macomb County, an area that has been key to his political support. The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, posted last week on X (formerly Twitter) that the president is eager to return to Michigan and celebrate this milestone with his supporters.
