Trump didn’t comment on Crawford’s remark but posted a nearly three-minute video without explanation. The video included statements from figures like Gen. Mark Milley, Nancy Pelosi, and White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who appeared on major networks to reassure the public about Biden’s abilities.
One clip featured DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Meet the Press, saying, “The hardest part about meeting with President Biden is preparing for it because he is sharp, detail-focused, and probing.” Another showed Jean-Pierre on CNN saying, “It’s hard for us to keep up with this president.”
On CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday, Jan Crawford discussed Biden’s June debate with Trump, which led to pressure for him to step down and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris. Crawford said the debate made Biden’s cognitive decline clear and criticized the lack of scrutiny over his fitness for another term.
“We should have questioned his ability to serve another four years,” Crawford said. “This could have led to a primary for the Democrats and changed the election. Yet his advisers now say he regrets dropping out and thinks he could have beaten Trump. That is either delusional or manipulative.”
Conservatives responded angrily to Crawford’s comments, criticizing mainstream media for ignoring the issue.
