On March 6, 2025, Donald Trump sat down with journalists in the Oval Office to talk about recent attacks against him. Reporters asked him about the incidents and whether more information would be released about the people involved. Trump responded by saying that it was time for the FBI to share more details on the investigations.
Last year, Trump was targeted in two assassination attempts. The first happened on July 13 in Butler, and the second took place on September 15 in West Palm Beach.
Both incidents are still being investigated, and not much is known about the suspects. The two people connected to the cases are Thomas Matthew and Crooks Ryan Routh. Crooks was killed during the attack, while Routh is currently in federal custody.
During the conversation, a reporter asked Trump if he had any updates on the cases. Trump made it clear that he wanted to find answers. He said, “I want to find the answers. In fact, today I said we can no longer blame Biden for that one.” He seemed to suggest that instead of focusing on past administrations, it was time to get real answers about what had happened.
When a journalist asked specifically about Crooks, Trump appeared to confuse him with Routh. Instead of answering directly, he responded, “Yeah, oh, well, and the second one with all of his cell phones?” He then continued, “You had one who had three apps, two of which were foreign, supposedly, and who has the biggest white shoe law firm in Pennsylvania, even though they don’t live in necessarily a white shoe area. What’s that all about his law?” His statement was unclear, but it seemed like he was suggesting there was something suspicious about the case and the legal connections of one of the suspects.
Trump also revealed that the FBI was supposed to brief him on these cases sometime next week. He hinted that there might be something much bigger happening behind these attacks. He said that many people had already pointed out certain things, making him believe there could be a larger picture that hasn’t been fully uncovered yet.
Trump then brought up the apps and multiple cell phones that Routh allegedly had. He expressed concern, saying, “When you have three apps and two of them are foreign, and you had an FBI that wouldn’t report on it, they didn’t want to say why? I would say that could be suspicious.
He continued, “But on the second one, he had six cell phones. That’s a lot of cell phones, and a couple of them had some strange markings on them. I don’t have six cell phones.”
So far, the FBI and other investigative agencies have not shared any major updates about the case. Despite this, Trump took a moment to praise the Secret Service for their work in keeping him safe. He also brought up the idea of releasing some of the reports that the Secret Service had given him. At first, he sounded confident about making those reports public, but then he hesitated.
He said, “I mean that maybe there’s a reason that we shouldn’t. So I don’t want to get too far ahead of my skis. But yeah, I wouldn’t be very willing to release that. I’d like to see it. I want to see that one myself.” It seemed like he was debating whether revealing the information would be a good idea or not.
Right now, it is unclear if Trump will actually receive a full briefing from the FBI next week. It is also unknown whether any new details will be shared with the public.
For now, his conversation with journalists did not bring any new major revelations about the cases. However, his comments suggest that he is growing more suspicious and wants more answers about what really happened and why.
