According to reports, Donald Trump had doubts about Tesla billionaire Elon Musk during his presidential campaign. A new book claims these doubts led to an angry reaction from Trump. The book is written by Michael Wolff, the author of Fire and Fury, and it covers Trump’s 2024 campaign.
The book describes how Trump won back the presidency and reveals his private frustrations with Musk. Despite Musk publicly supporting him, Trump questioned Musk’s loyalty, especially after a dramatic appearance at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Instead of appreciating Musk, Trump reportedly reacted by saying, “What the f—k is wrong with this guy? And why doesn’t his shirt fit?”
On the other hand, Musk didn’t seem too interested in getting involved. When someone offered to introduce him to Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, Musk declined, saying, “I’ve really no interest in speaking to a vice president.” The book also suggests that Trump and his team were suspicious of Musk, believing he had his own agenda and was possibly siding with Silicon Valley elites who saw Vance as a future leader.
The book also claims Trump entertained conspiracy theories, including one about Michelle Obama. According to Wolff, Trump once said, “People call her ‘Mike,’ you know. Those very big shoulders. What’s that about?”
Trump was also frustrated with his legal team during his hush money trial. He reportedly lashed out at his lawyer, Todd Blanche, saying, “I don’t even know what you’re doing here… I paid you to handle this. But you’re blowing it. Why are you so weak?” Some reports say Trump admired the legal team that defended O.J. Simpson, believing they were better than his own lawyers.
Trump and Musk have both addressed the media’s attempts to create a divide between them.
Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung, dismissed the book’s claims, calling them “fabricated nonsense” and attacking Wolff, saying he has “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Despite this, Musk has continued to publicly support Trump. However, based on the book, there is speculation that their relationship could eventually fall apart due to their strong personalities and ambitions. Whether Musk will stay loyal to Trump or move on to another political figure remains uncertain.
