Egg Prices Skyrocket! White House Blames Biden Administration for Shortage—Here’s the Shocking Reason Behind It

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt criticized the previous Joe Biden administration on Tuesday for the big rise in egg prices. She spoke strongly against the Biden team during her first press briefing under President Donald Trump.

At the end of the briefing, Christian Datoc from the Washington Examiner asked Leavitt how the president plans to tackle the rising cost of eggs. Egg prices have more than doubled since summer 2023 because of a bird flu outbreak that led farmers to kill millions of chickens.

Leavitt used the question to attack the Biden administration.

“I’m glad you asked this,” Leavitt said, “because many reports are blaming this White House for the higher egg prices. But I want to remind everyone that in 2024, when Joe Biden was in charge — maybe sleeping in the residence, who knows — egg prices went up by 65%. Not just eggs, but the cost of bacon, groceries, gas, and everything else also rose because of the last administration’s policies that caused inflation.”

She added, “The egg shortage is also happening because the Biden administration and the Department of Agriculture ordered the killing of over 100 million chickens. This has reduced the chicken supply, which means fewer eggs and a shortage.”

Leavitt ended by saying, “This situation shows why it’s so important for the Senate to quickly confirm President Trump’s nominees, including Brooke Rollins for the Department of Agriculture. She’s already working with Kevin Hassett, who leads the White House economic team, to find solutions to the egg shortage.”
