Elon Musk makes major U-turn on Trump feud with surprising tweets after backtracking on Epstein claims

Donald Trump and Elon Musk used to be friendly, but their relationship has recently taken a sharp turn for the worse. The tension between them began shortly after Musk stepped down from his role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a position he held under Trump’s administration. After leaving, Musk suddenly began criticizing Trump on social media, and things quickly got heated.

The fight really kicked off when Trump announced a new economic plan — something he called a “big, beautiful bill” — that included large tax cuts, spending changes, and financial breaks. Musk strongly disagreed with it and went online to call it a “disgusting abomination,” claiming it would undo all the progress he had made while working at DOGE.

But the argument didn’t stop there. Musk then dropped a serious accusation, suggesting that Trump’s name is included in the Jeffrey Epstein files. He tweeted that this was the real reason the files hadn’t been fully released and ended the post by saying, “Have a nice day, DJT!” He even followed up with another tweet saying people should remember his claim because “the truth will come out.”

Trump didn’t stay quiet. He brushed off Musk’s comments, saying the rumors about him and Epstein are “old news” that had been around for years. Trump also mentioned that even Epstein’s own lawyer said he wasn’t involved in anything. He hinted that their friendship was likely over after what Musk said.

Interestingly, Musk later deleted all of his tweets about Trump and the Epstein files, which many took as a sign that he might be having second thoughts about their public fight.

Now, Musk seems to be softening his stance toward Trump, at least a little. After violent protests broke out in Los Angeles over the weekend in response to immigration raids carried out by ICE, Trump authorized 2,000 troops to be deployed in the area. This move caused a lot of controversy, with California Governor Gavin Newsom calling it harmful and saying it would make the public trust law enforcement even less.

But Musk appeared to support Trump’s decision. He reposted a tweet from Vice President JD Vance saying that the country needed strong leadership and that Trump wouldn’t tolerate violence and rioting. Musk simply added two American flag emojis in agreement. He also shared a screenshot of a post from Trump’s social media platform, where Trump criticized Governor Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, blaming them for how the protests were being handled.

Trump said the people causing trouble in LA weren’t protesters — he called them “insurrectionists” and demanded that local leaders apologize for their poor handling of the situation.

According to reports, the protests had gotten intense. At least 44 people were arrested during Friday’s ICE operations, and about 1,000 protesters gathered outside a building, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Two journalists were hit by non-lethal bullets during the clashes. The White House later released a statement saying federal agents had been attacked while trying to carry out deportations and that the raids were necessary to stop illegal immigration.

So even though Musk and Trump had a nasty falling-out recently — with Musk making a serious claim and Trump firing back — Musk now seems to be leaning back toward supporting Trump, at least on issues like immigration and law enforcement. Whether they’ll repair their friendship or go back to trading insults is anyone’s guess.
