Florida Man Arrested 7 Years After Badly Burned B0dy Of Pregnant Mother 0f 2 Found In Remote Cemetery
A pregnant mother of two was found dead in a Florida cemetery, and a suspect has been identified over seven years after her slaying, authorities announced.
A Putnam County grand jury recently indicted Lorenzo Hudson, 42, on a first-degree murder charged in connection with the death of Shaquierra Pinckney, 22, of Daytona Beach, WJXT reported.
In September 2015, mortuary workers discovered Pinckney’s badly burned body at the Gethsemane Baptist Church Cemetery in a remote area of Putnam County.
She had been reported missing days earlier in Volusia County, and distinctive tattoos helped investigators link her body to the report.
An autopsy determined the victim, a mother of two, was around four months pregnant when she was killed.
“There’s so much more I’d like to tell you about this case and about our suspect. But at the end of the day, we want to conviction so I cannot divulge any information such as motive or any other facts surrounding the case,” Putnam County Sheriff Gator DeLoach said, WJXT reported.
The sheriff, however, said the pair may have met on an adult website.
According to the station, the suspect, Hudson, is currently incarcerated at the minimum-security facility Okaloosa Work Camp. He was set to be released from custody in December 2023 after serving a five-year term in connection with burglary and grand theft charges.
The suspect now faces multiple new charges in the Pinckney case, including capital felony murder, capital felony murder of an unborn child, second-degree felony use of a dead body, and third-degree felony tampering with physical evidence.
“We never gave up,” DeLoach said. “One of our most important functions is to serve as a voice for Shaquierra and those like her who was silenced when her life was brutally taken. She will never be forgotten by me or my detectives who work tirelessly to bring Hudson one step closer to justice.”
