Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass Could Face Federal Charges Over ICE Riot Chaos, Trump Official Warns: ‘Someone’s Going to Die

President Trump’s top immigration adviser, Tom Homan, has warned that California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass could face serious legal consequences for how they responded to recent ICE operations and the violence that followed in parts of Los Angeles.

According to Homan, the situation in the city got out of control as protests over immigration enforcement turned into violent riots. These clashes spread across areas like downtown LA, Compton, and the suburb of Paramount. Homan and other members of the Trump administration claim that California leaders helped fuel the unrest by encouraging resistance to federal immigration laws.

Homan spoke to NBC News and issued a strong warning, saying that if things keep going this way, someone could end up getting killed. He said he’s considering asking the U.S. Department of Justice to press federal charges against Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass. His accusation is that their actions, or failure to act, contributed to the chaos and put lives at risk.

There were also claims circulating online that ICE agents had targeted schools, but Homan pushed back hard against those rumors, saying there were no raids happening near schools at all. He seemed to suggest that false information like that added to the public anger and helped spark the violent scenes.

The situation is still developing, but Homan made it clear that the federal government may take further steps — and that local leaders could be held accountable if they’re seen as interfering with immigration enforcement or encouraging protests that turn violent.
