I’m Not Going Anywhere!’ Biden Promises to Stay ‘Engaged’ in Powerful Final Presidential Speech
President Joe Biden promised to stay involved in public life even after leaving the White House, during his final speech as president on Sunday.
Speaking at the Royal Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston, South Carolina, Biden honored civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and urged the audience to “keep the faith” and “stay engaged” as Donald Trump prepares to take office.
“These decisions aren’t easy, and some have never been made before,” Biden said. “But with my conscience and experience, I believe that justice and mercy require us, as a nation, to face people’s pain, not ignore it. We must work to turn pain into purpose, to show we can help individuals and our nation find redemption.”
He acknowledged the ongoing challenges facing America, calling the struggle for the nation’s soul both hard and continuous. “We stand between danger and opportunity, but faith reminds us that the America we dream of is closer than we think,” Biden added. “We must hold onto that faith and stay hopeful. A better day is coming. And I’m not going anywhere—I’m serious.”
