GOP Rep. Andy Biggs believes that it’s time to begin identifying candidates that the entire GOP House can get behind.

GOP Rep. Biggs shared the status of negotiations within the GOP in their effort to place a new Speaker of the House. Twenty GOP representatives have made it clear that they will not support Kevin McCarthy for Speaker and now they are calling for McCarthy to move on.

A lot of individual conversation pods are taking place between only Kevin folks, people on th…other end of the spectrum in the conference. They’re coming over to talk to us. We’re talking to them and we’re making it clear we’re not budging on Kevin. And then some of them are like, ‘then we’re going to have to be here for a long time’, and I said ‘well that’s ok’.

But others are like, ‘What resolves it?’, and I said ‘Well, we’ve given you some names, you haven’t given us any names other than Kevin and it’s time to have plans for post-Kevin’.

That would be, I was out there, Jim Jordan was out there, Byron Donalds was out there. You know there are other guys. Maybe a Mike Johnson, Maybe a Kevin Hern. Maybe some others that are out there that can run. But where we sit right now, is that there is, I guess Kevin wanted another last ditch effort to negotiate…

…Instead of being a leader…he unleashed on them.

Biggs then shared that McCarthy was not likely to gain any votes last night and may have actually lost some. Which is likely why the McCarthy team opted to go home.

Biggs also noted that the McCarthy gang threatened those who were demanding anyone other than Kevin. But he explained why that was so foolish.

The point is that the 20 who won’t vote for McCarthy are waiting for an alternative from the McCarthy gang. It’s clear he won’t get the Speakership and time he moves on.
