Joe Biden Exposes Shocking Attempts to Rewrite the Truth About the Capitol Riot!
President Joe Biden criticized attempts to “rewrite” or “erase” the “violent” events of the 2021 Capitol riot in an opinion piece published in The Washington Post ahead of its fourth anniversary.
On January 6, 2021, a group of then-President Donald Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol in Washington, D.C., after he claimed the election was stolen. The rioters broke through security, vandalized offices, and clashed with police, disrupting the process to certify Biden’s win. Lawmakers had to evacuate, several people died during or shortly after the event, and many were injured.
The riot highlighted deep political and social divides. Since then, it has led to investigations and widespread condemnation.
In his editorial, Biden urged Americans to “never forget” and warned against efforts to distort the events of that day. He expressed concern that some are trying to change history by dismissing the attack as a minor protest or partisan issue.
“Violent insurrectionists attacked the Capitol, threatened elected officials, and assaulted brave law enforcement officers,” Biden wrote. “We must be proud our democracy survived, and we must ensure it never faces such an attack again.”
Biden emphasized the importance of learning from history to avoid repeating it. He warned against forgetting what happened, as future generations will rely on truthful accounts from videos, testimonies, and history books.
“An effort is underway to rewrite — even erase — the history of that day,” Biden said. “To pretend we didn’t see what we all witnessed. This cannot be allowed to happen.”
Biden also noted the importance of remembering January 6 to protect democracy. He said, “Our freedoms, rights, and dreams depend on democracy, and it’s the duty of every generation to defend it.”
